Overview

Pocket Book Adventures is a solo-only, minimalist dungeon crawler that only needs the book and a pencil to play. Rather than using dice or cards to generate randomness, Pocket Book Adventures introduces a simple, dexterity-based system that balances skill and luck for truly engaging gameplay.

Explore dozens of maps, encounter unique monsters, level up, grab loot, and solve puzzles in this tiny, campaign-driven dungeon crawler!

Simple Movement

Each turn, move 1-4 spaces in a straight line (you can turn if you hit terrain) and mark your new location. Pick up any loot or items you pass over. If you end near a monster, initiate combat with them.

Point & Write Combat

Combat is simple, but engaging. Put your pencil on the dot above the enemy's icon. Then - without looking at the page - lift your pencil and aim for the center of their target.

Where you land determines how much damage you take and even if you trigger the enemy's special ability!

Light Puzzles

Some maps are open world, while others have more restricted movement rules that create map-wide puzzles. If you want to open the chest for those levels, you'll need to figure out the right path to get there!

Boss Battles

Throughout your adventures, you'll encounter powerful boss monsters, each with their own unique combat rules and win conditions!

How many pages or different puzzles are there in the pdf? I’m very interested but would like to know how many games I’ll get in the book

Thank you

Good question! There are 50 standard levels. About half are puzzle-based movement; the other half are open-world movement. Then there are also 7 boss levels, which are a mix of puzzles and special dexterity checks.

Each level takes two game pages, but it's possible to fit 4 game pages on a single sheet of paper (8 if you use double-sided printing).

excellent thank you

Hey! If I bought a physical copy any chance for a digital as well?

If you backed our Kickstarter campaign and pledged for the physical copy, then the digital was included as well. Outside of that, they are separate purchases.

understood, thank you for the reply!

Hi, love your game. But why are the pages so small? Can you make a single page PDF per sheet that ocupies all the page?

I'm glad you like it! As for the size of the pages, that's just the size that the physical game is. It's pretty easy to adjust when printing at home, though.

  1. Press Ctrl+P (⌘+P on Macs) to bring up the Print Options window.
  2. Set the "scale" or "zoom" (or some option similar to that) until the game fills the page.
    1. For the Simple_Layout file, I think you can zoom up to ~150%
    2. For the Binding_Layout file, it's something like 200%

That will make hitting the bull's eyes much easier, of course, but that may be just fine for you.

Thanks, the game is very entertaining, great job - hope to see more of this in the future

Thanks! I actually have a follow-up game in the works right now. It’s still early but I’m excited about it!

I want to buy it but I can't. I have entered the card numbers 3 times and nothing happens, no confirmation or anything. Is there any way to pay with PayPal?

PayPal payments should be available now!

The description mentions a dexterity system for play, how does it work?

I just uploaded a bit more information about the game now, including how combat works. Hopefully that helps, but if you still have questions, feel free to ask!
